ALH (DR) UMARU KWAIRANGA (SFG): OUR HERO AND THE SUCCESS OF THE CIS 2017 NATIONAL WORKSHOP

Nigeria has today witnessed a great historic event as our own hero, Alhaji (Dr) Umaru Kwairanga (Sarkin Fulanin Gombe) Coordinated the 2017 National Workshop of the Chartered Institute of Stock Brokers (CIS) as the Chairman of the CIS Workshop committee.
As an eye witness, I can confidently and quite happily confirm that every participant in the workshop had appreciated the efforts put in place by the veteran investment guru in ensuring that the National Workshop is one of the best our country has had in its economic history. I had the opportunity of accompanying my Boss to The venue of the workshop at Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja on the eve of the programme where he supervised the decoration and proper organisation of the venue and received the guest participants from various parts of the Country. CIS President, Oluwaseyi Abe and 2nd Vice President Olatunde Amolegbe Mohammed came into the venue shortly after their arrival from Lagos and were all surprised that our hero was there himself supervising the preparation exercise alongside his Secretary Edika Ekong. We did not leave transcorp Hilton until midnight that day. The Workshop started colourfully and ended in glitters. Our hero was the first person that came on stage to address the gathering and at various points in his ultra-eloquent speech; our hero was applauded by the audience. Our hero stated that the National Workshop is one in a series of forum organised by the CIS that seeks to bring top Government Functionaries and erudite economist as well as capital market experts together to discuss critical national issues with a view to coming up with workable policies and strategies that will move our dear nation further on the path of achieving its potential and taking its rightful place in the comity of nations.
According to him, this year, the institute has chosen a theme that is strategic and apt for its national workshop; that is ‘Transiting from Recession to a Global Economic Power: A Working Template for Nigeria’.

Theme is in line with the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) recently released by the Federal Government. Our hero believes that sustained inclusive growth of the Nigerian Economy is attainable in the near future. To achieve this however, there should be systematic plan that leverages on our country’s abundant human capital and natural resources while the Government on its part should do more to remove various bottlenecks that have clogged the engine of growth in the past. He stresses that attaining the growth trajectory that our nation desires will require close partnership and collaboration between the public and private sectors, a partnership that the workshop seeks to deepen.

The Honourable minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun delivered her speech and declared the workshop open as she wore two caps, representing the Acting President apart from being a guest of honour. Speech was also delivered by Alhaji (Dr) Umaru A Mutallab.  The lead speaker for the first session was  the Director Genral of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) Mallam Mounir Gwarzo who delivered his paper professionally after which the Discussants came on stage and rubbed minds on the topic discussed by Mallam Mounir Gwarzo. Other lead speakers were Mr Bolaji Balogun, a renowned investment Banker, and the MD/CEO of Airtel Nigeria, Mr Segun Ogunsanya.

This speaks volume of what a great leader our hero is which leaves us with hope and confidence that he will Insha Allah Govern the affair of our state in our best interest if given the opportunity. We pray for our hero Allah’s endless blessings, guidance and protection. May Allah decree the fulfilment of his lfe ambition. Allah ya cika mana burin mu. Amin!
