Atiku: Nigeria risks going broke

Alh. Atiku Abubakar

Unless the Federal Government applies the brakes on its current uncontrolled spending, the nation risks going broke sooner than envisaged, former vice President and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has warned.

In a statement released by the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation yesterday, the PDP presidential aspirant said the fact that the Jonathan administration was relapsing into the habit of foreign borrowing was a clear indication that something was wrong with the economy.

He warned that Nigeria risks going broke sooner than later “if the uncontrolled spending and mismanagement of the economy by the Jonathan administration is not checked, pointing out that even most worrisome is the depletion of the Excess Crude Account from $22 billion to $470 million with no corresponding projects associated with the spending.
