I won’t apologise to Obasanjo—Fayose

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose said yesterday that he has no plan to apologise to former president Olusegun Obasanjo over his verbal exchange with him at the weekend. In a reply to an enquiry from Daily Trust Fayose said he was not answerable to anybody and that he had said what he wanted to say. “I am not answerable to anybody. I have said what I wanted to say and am satisfied”, he said.

Fayose verbally assaulted Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, at Okuku in Odo-Otin Local Government area of Osun state at the weekend. He practically took the former president to the cleaners when they met at the Thanksgiving Service organized in honour of the former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola. It was learnt that Fayose had been nursing a very deep animosity against Chief Obasanjo for allegedly being responsible for his exit from the Ekiti State Government House.

It was also learnt that Fayose fingered Chief Obasanjo as the one behind his ordeal, particularly his trial by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) which led to the seizure of his property by the commission. Furthermore, Fayose who is blaming his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Obasanjo, was said to have for long been looking for an opportunity to take his pound of flesh from the former President and he cashed in on the opportunity provided by the Okuku event.

Trouble started when Chief Obasanjo who got to the venue of the programme before Fayose accused the later of not greeting him while he greeted other personalities at the event.

Fayose quickly retorted, making some caustic remarks while the former president who was baffled by the former governor’s effrontery kept mute.
